About

Welcome to Homestead By the Bay

Well, I’m not great at introductions or talking about me without getting a little (okay, a lot) awkward, but I’ll do my best. Ha!

My name is Kelly. Introverted and socially awkward, but loyal to a fault. My husband and I have been married since 2012 and we have two amazing kids, ages 4 and 2. I love Jesus Christ and strive to glorify him in all things. He saved me and honestly, I’ll never get over that.

I have a large family (I am kid 3 in a family of 6 kids) and have a gaggle of nieces and nephews that are pretty incredible. I love animals. I worked in the veterinary industry (as a veterinary technician and later ran a pet crematory with husband for many years) and could write a book of all my experiences. Wild times and great memories.

If I don’t make myself a cup of coffee within five minutes of waking, something is wrong and I should probably go see a doctor. You could say I’m addicted. I strive to feed my family well and prioritize whole, animal-based eating in our house and have fallen in love with lifting heavy over the last couple years. We stay active and love spending our days outside, but certainly not above a cozy day at home watching a movie or reading a book. Dark chocolate absolutely falls under the healthy eating umbrella. Totally.

I am a lover of stories and writing. Books are my love language and crafting my own stories is a lifelong love of mine. I have several works in progress and plan to publish. I have passed along my love of reading to both of my little people, and we are on a first name basis with the staff at our local library. Homeschoolers…what can I say?

I created this blog as a place to share our learning experiences with others and connect with a community of people who have a passion for doing things the long, slow way. I have a passion for creating a life of getting my hands dirty and showing my children the joy in growing and raising their own food, living slow and intentional. Above all, I desire that my children love and obey the Lord. That they would grow up to be people that do all things for his glory and his kingdom and to live with integrity.

These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk alone the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
